#1371 Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
"Good Luck to You, Leo Grande" was first and foremost a women's effort. The script was written by the british actress Katy Brand as her first feature scripts. She is friends with Oscar winner Emma Thompson who quickly got attached to star the film, which sparked the interest of Australian director Sophie Hyde, who in her words "just had to make the movie", and did so in just 19 days. Glimpses of the result can be seen in the trailer:
And how did you like the film, which was essentially a one-room, two-person thing and could probably be easily reworked into a theatre play? How did you enjoy the performances by Thompson as the retired teacher Nancy, and Daryl McCormack (who may be best known to Germans for a supporting role in Amazon Prime's "The Wheel of Time") as the titular sex worker Leo Grande. And how about the very sharp and witty dialogue? Please tell us what you thought about the film in a reply to this posting.
