Yes, the story of Edith, Rose and those foul-mouthed letters is indeed a true tale from the early late 1910's and early 1920's where in a little Sussex town called Littlehampton anonymous letters full of swearwords appeared, You can read a little more about it in an online article at Cosmopolitain. Nottingham-born actor/writer Jonny Sweet turned this into a movie script - his first - which was then directed by Thea Sharrock, who before directed tearjerker "Me Before You".
