As a book, "Napóleonsskjölin" was the debut novel of Icelandic journalist-turned-novelist Arnaldur Indriðason published way back in 1999. Arnaldur co-wrote the script for 2008's "Reykjavík-Rotterdam", which was remade four years later as #0899 "Contraband" (starring Mark Wahlberg). This time Marteinn Thorisson turned the book into a script which was then directed by Óskar Thór Axelsson. The cast was a mixed bag of locals such as
Vivian Ólafsdóttir (playing lead Kristín) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (as recluse Einar), and international talent such as Londoner Jack Fox (playing Professor Steve Rush), German Wotan Wilke Möhring (as operative Simon), and of course Scot Iain Glen, who returns villain ways as William Carr.
But how did you like this tale of mostly ice and almost no fire? Please let us know in a reply to this posting.
