#1391 Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

"Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris" (also known as "Flowers for Mrs. Harris" was a well-received 1957 novel by American journalist, movie critic and autor Paul Gallico, who today is perhaps most well-known for his 1969 adventure novel "The Poseidon Adventure" (about a capsized cruise ship) which was adapted for the big screen in 1972 and 2006. Mrs. Harris went on to star in three more novels by Gallico during the 1960s. This first adventure was previously adapted three times, but always for the small screen, first way back in 1958 in America, then in 1982 (for German broadcaster ARD, starring Inge Meysel), and most recently in 1992 for UK tubes (starring Angela Lansbury). This is the first big-screen adaptation, penned by Carroll Cartwright, Keith Thompson and Olivia Hetreed together with director Anthony Fabian, who was previously mainly known for his documentary work.
