#1380 Where the Cradwads Sing

"Where the Crawdads Sing" was a surprise hit as a novel when it was released in 2018, especially cause it was the debut novel of then almost 70 years old Delia Owens, who was a biologist by trade (and had published non-fiction works about her endeavours as a conservationist before). The success probably fast-tracked the film adaptation, which was directed by Hoboken native Olivia Newman as only her second feature film, the script was penned by Lucy Alibar who co-wrote #0938 "Beasts of the Southern Wild" a decade ago, so she knows about the Souther Wilds.

How did you like this film, which in my view was more of a character study than a murder mystery? How did you like Londoner Daisy Edgar-Jones (who previously starred in the horror film "Fresh" opposite Sebastian Stan) as Southern Wild Child Kya, and David Strathairn as her lawyer?
