#1277 Yesterday (2019)

"Yesterday" is a real meeting of Sneak MVPs - director Danny Boyle today is best-known for his Oscar winning "Slumdog Millionaire", but also had sneak success with "127 Hours" (#0842) and early on with "Trainspotting" (#0092). Screenwriter Richard Curtis, on the other hand, seemed to be responsible for every worthwhile romantic comedy at the sneak, from "Notting Hill" (#0242) to "Bridget Jones's Diary" (#0354) and the two he also directed himself, "Love Actually" (#0471) and "About Time" (#0979). He also penned the scripts for "The Boat that Rocked" (#0764) and "Trash" (#1060). As with "About Time", "Yesterday" is at its heart a romantic comedy, but with a fantasy/sci-fi twist. You surely know by now what it is, but it can also be gathered from the trailer:
How did you like the film? What did you think of the performances by relative unknown Himesh Patel (who up to know mostly appeared on British TVs, most notably in the long-running soap "EastEnders") and the considerably more famous Lily James, who had graced the sneak screen before in "Baby Driver" (#1172) and "Darkest Hour" (#1197)? How about the supporting performers, from Joel Fry (who played a recurring role in "Game of Thrones's" fifth season) as Jacks "sidekick" Rocky, Kate McKinnon as Jacks manager Debra, and of course Ed Sheeran as himself? How did you like the story and the subtle changes to the world as we know it? Write down your thoughts about "Yesterday" as a reply to this post - don't wait until Tomorrow ...
