#1225 Sicario: Day of the Soldado

It was almost three years ago that Denis Villeneuve showed us Benicio del Toro as a shady hitman working with almost-as-shady government operatives in the futile "war on drugs" at the US-Mexican border. Villeneuve has moved on to other things, but the screenwriter, Taylor Sheridan - who we also know from "Hell or High Water" and "Wind River" - obviously wasn't done telling the story of Alejandro and Matt. Thus we got "Sicario: Day of the Soldado", which keeps the (male) main characters of the first part (though Emily Blunt's Kate is nowhere to be found), but tells a different story which only marginally has something to do with drug trafficking. Instead, we get a terrorist attack on US soil, which was helped by the fact that Mexican cartels help foreigners into the US illegaly. The US government decides to retailate by instigating a cartel war, and once again solicitates the services the titular "sicario". The film was made by italian director Stefano Sollima in his english- (and spanish-) language debut after becoming known for crime drama series like "Romanzo Criminale" or "Gomorra" (which Sky co-produced and/or picked up for international airings).
Here' the trailer for "Sicario: Day of the Solado":
How did you like this sequel to "Sicario"? What about del Toro, and Josh Brolin, who's had a very busy 2018 so far? How did it compare to the original? Tell us what you thought about the film in a reply to this post - oh, and my 2015 warning about anyone name Alejandro (sorry again, VerdeART ...) still stands.
