Yes, I noticed it too: "Our Kind of Traitor" was way shorter than advertised by me on "stage" last night. I blame it on an error in transmission - the most likely explanation is that 1h47m inadvertently changed into 147m.
The film itself was the third time in about four years that we could witness a novel by spy-thriller master John le Carré come to life on screen, after "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (#0853) and Hamburg-based "A Most Wanted Man" (#1021). Personally, though, "Our Kind of Traitor" reminded me more of 1990s "The Russia House" (also a Le-Carré novel-turned-film) starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Compared to the previously sneaked Le-Carré-Adaptations, "Traitor" featured a less numerous cast and focused more tightly on the relationship between meek literary professor Perry (McGregor), and his seemingly random vacation acquaintance, the loud and brash russian money launderer Dima (Skarsgård), whose family is in mortal danger as new mob leadership, well, "remodels" its business in a most bloody manner.
Here's the trailer for "Our Kind of Traitor":
So, what did you think of the film? Did you like the story, and/or the perfomances by McGregor and Skarsgård, not to mention the supporting cast featuring, among others, "Miss Moneypenny" Naomie Harris and Damian Lewis (who is no stranger to spy operations thanks to his stint on "Homeland")? Please tell us your thoughts about the film, don't write them down on a small piece of paper and keep them hidden.
